I am really looking forward to my second year as Principal of IMS!
I was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan but grew up just outside of Sherwood Park, Alberta. I have a BEd (1993) and an MEd (2005) from the University of Alberta. My first teaching job was at Fort Saskatchewan Junior High School during the spring of 1993. Shortly afterward, I was hired to teach at Eastview Community School and moved to Red Deer in August 1993. Since then, I have been proud to call Red Deer home. From 1993 - 2000, I taught Creative Writing, Drama, Environmental and Outdoor Education, Language Arts, Physical Education and Social Studies at Eastview. In September 2001, I became the vice principal at Eastview and in 2004, I got the opportunity to be the vice principal at Glendale Middle School.
In 2006, my career took an interesting turn when I was transferred Grandview Elementary
School. My oldest son was in kindergarten at that school and the next seven years were a lot of fun for me. I was vice principal and I taught grades 3,4, and 5. Best of all, I got to watch my children grow up in the amazing school I worked at.
In 2013, I joined Chinook's Edge to become the Principal of Delburne Centralized School. I loved my time in Delburne - it is a wonderful community and I will miss it very much. When I was offered the chance to move to Innisfail Middle, I jumped at the opportunity to return to my middle school roots.
My wife, Lori, is a registered nurse. We have two sons. Connor is 23 and Jeff is 21. Connor is a paramedic and Jeff is entering his third year of Education at the University of Alberta. We recently added a new member to our family, a Labradoodle cross named Downie. When I am not at the school, you will probably find me in a hockey arena or in the great outdoors. We love camping, fishing, hiking, skiing and mountain biking.
